Coleen Rooney stocks up on maternity wear

Coleen Rooney is no stranger to maternity clothes and nursing wear. The 26-year-old gave birth to her first child with footballer hubby Wayne in November 2009 and she certainly made sure she looked the part in the run-up to the birth and afterwards.

The fashionista loves to look her best and she made a big effort to ensure her image didn’t slide as she entered motherhood.

Latest shopping trip

She is expecting her second child in May next year and it seems she’s keen to stock up on new garments ASAP.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, the WAG has been out and about in search of more fashion items. It featured snaps of her wearing a fluffy tunic, leather jacket, leggings and mid-calf boots on a trip around London and she was carrying a number of shopping bags.

Easier second time round

She might find it easier to shop for maternity clothes and nursing wear this time round. When women go through their first pregnancies, they can find it hard to predict how quickly and dramatically their bodies will change shape.

So, rather than purchasing lots of items in advance, they often have to buy in bits and pieces as the months go by.

Full of energy

It seems Coleen’s energy levels haven’t been affected by her pregnancy. She managed to lug around her purchases without assistance. About this, the publication said: “[She] didn’t appear to be bothered by the heavy load and carried the three large carrier bags without the help of an aide.”

The news source added: “Earlier in the day, Coleen was spotted in a different outfit running errands, suggesting she isn’t letting pregnancy slow her down.”

Enjoying family life

Meanwhile, the Rooneys appear to be enjoying family life. Following Wayne’s recent England World Cup qualifying match against San Marino at Wembley Stadium, he, Coleen and son Kai stayed on in London to take in the sights and sounds.

During their mini-break, they managed to fit in a trip to Buckingham Palace, a lavish meal at Chinese restaurant Hakkasan, a shopping excursion to Harrod’s and they saw the West End production of Shrek: The Musical.

Thrilled

Also, writing on her Twitter page recently, Coleen noted the trio are excited to be expecting a new family member.

She said: “A few people guessed, so news is out ha!! Me, Wayne and Kai are thrilled that we are expecting a new addition to our family around May time x.” She added: “It’s still only early but bursting with excitement! Also wanted the news to come from us, before anyone else!”

Your own taste of celeb glamour

You might not quite have the budget of WAGs like Coleen, but you no doubt want to look great in your maternity clothes. Here at Bella Mama we offer a fantastic range of garments that could be just what you’re looking for.

By perusing our online boutique, you can kiss goodbye to frump and indulge in stylish, contemporary and flattering items that can really boost your confidence.

Breastfeeding Clothes – Hilary Duff Embraces Her Curves

If you’ve recently given birth and think that all breastfeeding clothes were dull, and that you’d have to wear a tent for the next year or so, think again!

Actor Hilary Duff was spotted recently out and about in LA with new son Luca, embracing her curves in tight-fitting denim jeans in appropriately coloured baby blue, offered a classic example of how a new mum can look fantastic.

A simple white T-shirt completed the look, along with a pair of super-cool sneakers. The casual look was glammed up thanks to diamond ear studs and her nails, painted bright red.

Duff welcomed her firstborn son back in the spring, and has been quite public about her battle to get her pre-pregnancy body back. And she has admitted that she is not quite there yet.

She said: “I’m working hard and doing everything I can to lose weight the right way. I’m breast-feeding, so you have to be careful and can’t do anything too dramatic.”

Hilary also tweeted the other weekend about how pleased she was to be able to spend a Saturday night alone with her new baby to enjoy some precious mother and son bonding time together.

If you’re a new mum and feel like glamming up, the Internet makes a good starting point at a time when you may be less able or willing to get to the shops than previously. You’ll find a range of great maternity and nursing wear in stunning designs.

Maternity Clothes that make Pregnancy Fashionable

Pregnancy is a wonderful time in a woman’s life and it will make your body change in a variety of ways.  Most women will still want to look and feel attractive while these changes are occurring.  Thanks to the excellent selection of maternity wear that is available, there’s no reason why a women can’t look as fashionable as ever during her pregnancy.

The first step to looking great in your maternity wear is to buy clothes in the correct size.  Sizing in maternity wear is generous, so you should probably start by wearing maternity clothes that are in the size you would normally wear.  They are cut to accommodate growth around the breasts and abdomen, so your usual size should fit perfectly.

When trying on clothes, make sure that they don’t restrict you around those areas. While some maternity clothes may look fashionable, they are primarily designed for comfort.  They are designed to stay loose and flowing, without looking like they swamp the woman.  Choosing clothes that are made from quality fabrics will make you look stylish without you even having to try.  Natural materials are best because they will allow your skin to breathe.

In the past, jeans would have been a no-go during pregnancy, but nowadays there’s a huge range of maternity jeans available.  Some are designed to sit underneath your expanding belly, while others contain elasticated panels to accommodate the growth.  Either way, they will ensure that you remain fashionable yet comfortable throughout your pregnancy.

Make the most of your pregnancy curves

There’s nothing quite like watching your body change during pregnancy. It’s a miracle of nature and will leave you with more curves that you ever imagined, so why hide them away? You want to make the most of your pregnancy curves and flaunt your bump in the best way possible, and with the right kind of maternity clothes you’ll easily be able to achieve the desired results.

Step out in style with clothes that work

It’s all about choosing clothes that flatter your figure, and ideally you’ll want those that can adapt to your changing body so you can keep your stylish edge throughout your pregnancy and beyond. Jersey dresses, for example, are ideal—they’re comfortable and offer the perfect fit, hugging your bump and draping in just the right way, but the choices don’t stop there. You’ll be able to find clothes to suit any occasion necessary, and at this time of year you can’t go wrong with a few maternity tops and jumpers thrown into the mix.

But, perhaps the best thing about a lot of maternity clothes is that they can effortlessly transform into nursing clothes once the baby arrives. They can be worn both during and after your pregnancy with many tops (for example) offering easy nursing access with cleverly concealed panels and functional designs, whilst the right kind of material can grow with your bump whilst flattering your post-pregnancy tummy when the time comes. Your curves will be hugged from every angle, giving you the comfort you need and the look you want, because there’s nothing better than being able to blossom with clothes that are perfect for your needs.

Follow in the footsteps of celebs

Celebs know all about dressing their bump—just look at the likes of Beyoncé, Jessica Alba, Heidi Klum and Victoria Beckham. All of them effortlessly stylish ladies who managed to retain their fashion status during their pregnancies, they went for clothes that flattered their curves rather than hid. It’s all about dressing for your shape and making the most of what you’ve got, so go for clothes that let you bloom and you really can’t go wrong.

Bella Mama's Beginnings in Breastfeeding Clothing

I've had so many people ask recently about why I set up Bella Mama. What was my inspiration? What led me here. How did I go from working in Publishing to here? How did I start a business with a baby? How did I find the courage to set up something new?

To be honest, it was a perfect storm of circumstances that led me to set up...

Five years ago in March 2007 my second baby was due, and my sister's wedding was planned for June. GAH! This pitched me into a real panic about what was I going to wear?

How would I breastfeed my new baby and not have to disappear to another room whilst doing so? I didn't want to flash maternity tummy at elderly relatives or my sister's trendy friends! Was I going to have to wear my maternity clothes and hoik them up to feed? How would I look on the photos? I needed to look like a pretty, stylish older sister and avoid looking like the sleep-deprived new mummy that previous experience told me I knew I would feel like!

I honestly had such a dilemma about this, that during my (increasing) periods of wakefulness in the middle of the night whilst the baby kicked and woke me, and I wandered the house looking for distractions, I increasingly found myself drawn to the internet to seek out fantastic nursing clothes that would be suitable to wear for the special occasion.

Whenever I found gorgeous breastfeeding dresses, they were from websites/stores based in the USA, Singapore or Australia. So frustrating! Would they fit? How much was shipping? What were the customs charges? What were the sizes? How did the nursing access work? Would the dresses suit me? How would I return them if they did not?? Why, why, why were the clothes I found in the UK so frumpy?

Something had to be done. I began to collect all the gorgeous dresses and clothing I had found online, and this went into my business plan for Bella Mama.

Bella Mama was launched when Orla was 2.5 months old. Luckily, she was the most placid, easy-going baby and was very content to feed, play and nap, leaving me with lots of time whilst she rested to set up the website, stock the store and test the best breastfeeding clothing available.

When Orla was 4 months old, we travelled around the world to stay with friends in Australia. My husband was working for himself, and I was on Mat Leave, and a number of our friends had emigrated to Australia and issued open invitations for us to come stay with them. We decided to take them up on the offer, and booked our trip. Many of our friends though we were bonkers to travel with such young children, but that has never phased me and Dan. What's the worst that happen?? We could cope!

We travelled smoothly from Manchester to Heathrow, despite the airline forgetting to offload the Bugaboo at Heathrow (it got booked straight on through to San Francisco). Dan strapped on the Baby Bjorn and we were off. The flight from Heathrow to San Francisco was fabulous. I breastfed Orla just before takeoff, which really helped to settle her.  We spent a long weekend in San Francisco, then straight on to our amazing friends in Brisbane for amazing holiday and lots of time spent out on their boat! Finn especially enjoyed time spent with his mate, Noah.

We spent 2 weeks relaxing on Bribie Island, then on to friends in Sydney and a quick meeting with newly set up gorgeous baby bag designers Isoki.

From there we went to friends in Perth, then onto Singapore where I met with gorgeous breastfeeding clothing designers Annie from Annee Matthew and Karen from Maternalove.

I had great fun trying on loads of Annie's designs - who knew being a business woman meant a totally unstuffy, very feminine way of meeting and forging business links! Such a great time and Annie's love of beautiful fabrics and stylish designs ensured her clothing formed a real backbone of  Bella Mama's first collection.  Maternalove was a very new company too at the time, and Karen was fabulously informative and very understanding of my new business. Dan had taken the kiddos out for a walk around Sentosa on the day, whilst I met Karen in our hotel room. I vividly remember him having to extend and extend his walk with the children as we chatted about nursing clothes, kids and new businesses!

These gorgeous breastfeeding clothing designers formed our first collection at Bella Mama, and since then we have endeavoured to introduce the best in breastfeeding and nursingwear fashion to the UK.

Not long after I returned to work, the company I was working for decided they needed to downsize and I took voluntary redundancy, which enabled me to build Bella Mama as a business.

I am really proud to say that Bella Mama have been the first to bring many new nursingwear clothing designers to the UK. I am delighted to support small fledgling brands, usually run by new mamas themselves, and to offer their clothing range to nursing mamas in the UK and to help build their brands over here. Five years on from our launch, I am so proud that we are offering the very best range of breastfeeding clothing available worldwide right here in the UK!

Hurrah!

Here's to the next five years of Bella Mama! We have so many exciting things to offer, and many new directions in which we are expanding. I'm so happy to have had so many wonderful experiences through Bella Mama, and really look forward to the experiences the coming years bring!

Reese Witherspoon shows busy mums-to-be how it’s done

Reese Witherspoon juggles pregnancy and work

Your unborn baby might be the centre of your world, but the fact is, even though you’re expecting a child, the universe does not stop on your accord. Like a lot of mums-to-be, you might find you have lots of commitments to meet and barely seem to have a moment to yourself.

For example, you might be planning to carry on working virtually until you drop so that you get to spend as much time with your little one as possible once he or she is born. Meanwhile, there are no doubt lots of other responsibilities for you to cope with. Perhaps you already have other kids to look after and then there are domestic chores, social obligations and other responsibilities to keep on top of.

With all this in mind, it’s important you have the perfect maternity clothing. Thankfully, getting the ideal garments, including nursing tops, is now easier than ever.

Reese Witherspoon shows busy mums-to-be how it’s done

Actress Reese Witherspoon has been showing busy pregnant ladies how it’s done. Despite being in her third trimester, the blonde bombshell has been on set filming her upcoming movie The Devil’s Knot, the Daily Mail reports.

Complete with her sizable bump, the 36-year-old looked in good form. No doubt the Hollywood A-lister has been stocking up on breastfeeding tops and other garments in preparation for when she gives birth. The celebrity is no stranger to labour. She has a 12-year-old daughter and eight-year-old son from her previous marriage to fellow actor Ryan Phillippe.

Looking radiant

It’s often said that expectant mothers look radiant and Reese was no exception. She looked glowing as she performed for the cameras.

Commenting on her appearance, the news source stated: “She donned the same matching navy and white polka-dot short-sleeved shirt and skirt as she has previously been seen in while she shoots the flick, with her hair styled in waves around her face.”

A spot of retail therapy

You might look to role models like Reese when you’re seeking new maternity outfits. Although you may not quite have the celebrity budget she has, as long as you know where to look, you can get your hands on gorgeous nursing tops and so on without breaking the bank in the process.

Here at Bella Mama, we offer an impressive range of some of the most stylish garments around and regardless of the type of products you’re after, we should be able to help. Perusing our online boutique is the perfect form of retail therapy. It’s quick and simple, and you can end up with products that really help to boost your confidence.

Dressing for the office

For example, if you’re keen to stock up on items for the office, you might be interested in a chic sleeveless diagonal colour blocked dress created by US designers Japanese Weekend. This is great if you want to feel elegant and professional in your working environment and, crucially, it’s also comfy.

Meanwhile, once you’ve given birth, you can nurse in the dress by simply pulling down the neckline and pulling up the built-in shelf panel that covers the bust.

To see this and the rest of our breastfeeding tops and so on, just take a look around our online boutique.

Look as stylish as the celebs with gorgeous maternity clothes

Preparing to become a mum is an exciting and nerve-wracking time and there is plenty for you to do. As well as watching what you eat and drink, making sure you’ve read the literature handed to you in antenatal classes, preparing your home and so on, you’ll need to find clothes that feel comfy and look great.

There are certain things you have to sacrifice when you become a parent, but thankfully fashion isn’t one of them and when you’re searching for fabulous garments, you might turn to the celebs for inspiration. Seeing the world’s A-listers when they’re strutting their stuff on red carpets or simply walking down the street can provide you with plenty of ideas for your own maternity wear.

Adele to become a mum

British singer-songwriter Adele recently announced she’s expecting her first child and she’ll no doubt choose some fabulous attire to accommodate her bump as it grows. The 24-year-old, who hails from Tottenham and is one of the most successful recording artists on Earth, revealed the news on her official website.

Writing on her blog, she said that she and partner Simon Konecki are expecting. It seems the pair, who have been dating for more than half a year, are excited about the prospect of becoming parents.

Over the moon

The songstress wrote: “I’m delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child together. I wanted you to hear the news direct from me. Obviously, we’re over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time. Yours always, Adele xx.”

Other celebs were not shy in offering their congratulations. One of those to express her enthusiasm was fellow singer Lily Allen. On Twitter, she posted: “Wow. Adele’s preggers! Congratumalations to her and Simon!”

Across the pond, actress, comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres posted: “@OfficialAdele is pregnant! I’m so happy, I’m rolling in the deep! At least I think I am. I’m still not 100% sure what it means.”

Ditch the frump and say hello to maternity chic

When you’re on the lookout for new maternity clothes to help ensure you look and feel your best, you may want to peruse our online boutique here at Bella Mama. We know how important it is to feel gorgeous at all times, especially when you’re preparing to be a mum or have a newborn in-tow.

New Home for Bella Mama's Breastfeeding Business!

After starting life on the desk in the bedroom surrounded by baby grows and piles of eco-friendly nappies,  Bella Mama just like our kiddos has had another growth spurt!

As of May 1st 2012 Bella Mama is in a new home. We quickly outgrew our home office, and took an office at Gawsworth Business Court. After more than 2 years in our bijou little office in the New Barn, with stock piled up around our ears and lugging the posting bags filled with orders down a flight of stairs, we have now moved Bella Mama to a huge ground floor office in The Rick Yard, with a dedicated stock room and desks for everyone, hot-desking no longer required!

Some of our favourite things about our new office:  Lots more space for our gorgeous stock; a dedicated pick, pack and wrap station; and a creative zone where we can choose and design new styles for our amazing customers.

But aside from the extra space, Bella Mama also has 2 more new people on board. Helen already does our books, keeping the tax man happy, but she has taken on extra hours and is now tasked with beautifully wrapping the orders and keeping the stock up to date. In addition, Dan is taking on the role of new projects developer. We have some exciting new products and additions to the business coming soon to complement the range already on the web so keep checking back to see what's happening.

Finally, we don't want to keep all the good stuff to ourselves! We are so grateful to our lovely customers who support us, return to shop at Bella Mama when they are expecting again and who give us such wonderful feedback on our clothes, styles and service. We want to share the love with all our fab customers, so check out the various social media feeds and parenting magazines for some great competitions and giveaways in the very near future!

Best Breastfeeding Dress for Simple Summer Dressing!

The sun has been shining in the UK this week, and it has been GORGEOUS! Our summery breastfeeding dresses have been flying off the shelves, and I've had lots of customers asking for my recommendation about the best breastfeeding dress for wearing in the sunshine.

My go-to dress for simple summer dressing has to be Milk's gorgeous breastfeeding sundress. We have stocked these nursing dresses since Milk's launch, and they have been a real sell-out hit with nursing mamas in the USA, and very popular at BellaMama too! When my friend Rachel needed a gorgeous nursing-friendly dress to wear for a big birthday summer party last year, I gave her one of these pretty dresses and she was delighted. She found the dress comfy, easy to nurse her one-month old daughter whilst wearing and very figure flattering too.

Milk's breastfeeding sundresses are always Summer best-sellers at BellaMama, and come in a wide range of colours so there really is something to suit every new mama. The pretty ruched smocking across the chest, the lettuce edged hem and the tummy flattering gathering at the empire line are very flattering to post-natal tummies and the nursing bra friendly wide straps are also appreciated! The nursing access is super simple, just lift up the smocked band then pull aside the inner layer. As there are no obvious openings, this nursing dress really doesn't look like a nursing dress! These sundresses look great on their own, but can easily be accessorised with a little cardigan if the weather is cooler.

The reviews on Milk's website show what a customer favourite this dress is:

This has become my go-to dress - so comfortable and the easy access the design provides makes this design one of my two favorites (along with the tiered ruffle nursing dress) for easy nursing. I also like having the pattern too as I am able to wear this dress without a bra for extreme comfort and ease of nursing.

This is a wonderful dress! No one would ever guess it is a nursing dress. I love how discreetly I can nurse while wearing it. It is sooo comfortable! It covers the post-partum muffin top well, and I was also able to wear it throughout my entire pregnancy - very versatile!

Milk Sundress available from bellamama.co.uk in print, purple, green, teal, pink and classic black, £49.

Breaking the mold of traditional maternity: clothes you WANT to wear

One of my favourite things about owning Bella Mama is searching for lovely new designers and exquisite new pieces which will delight pregnant and new mamas in the UK. I am so excited to introduce More of Me Maternity to the range at Bella Mama this season. Beautiful dresses, elegantly cut and designed especially to make you feel utterly gorgeous throughout your pregnancy and beyond! Perfect if you are looking for something for a special occasion, which is completely luxurious and a real treat for yourself.

I get so many requests for divine dresses which are suitable for pregnancy, which can be worn to black tie events or sophisticated weddings. These designer maternity dresses from More of Me Maternity fit the bill perfectly.

Teamed with divine shoes and beautiful jewellery, these gorgeous maternity dresses are amazingly flattering, and will make you feel exceptionally special. We're not the only ones in love with the line. Hollywood's hottest mamas and mamas-to-be have been spotted out and about looking chic in their More of Me fashions.

More of Me is a contemporary maternity line for women who love to shop and want to maintain their chic appearance during pregnancy. More of Me is for women who wish to avoid maternity clothes like the plague… often buying “regular clothes” many sizes too big and trying to make it work. You know who you are. Have no fear! More of Me is more of what you WANT to wear, not what you’re forced to buy to cover your expanding midsection.

This collection is designed to look like the most stylish non-maternity clothes, yet is crafted with luxurious, pregnancy-friendly fabrics and exceptional maternity fit. Because let’s face it, your body is a tad unrecognizable these days. More of Me clothes are made in the greatest city in the world, New York, and are designed with thought and attention to the lives and needs of fashionable moms-to-be from the East Coast to the West Coast and everywhere in between.

Designed by a fashion-conscious mom, More of Me has heard women say: “I know I’d have to give up sushi, soft cheese and dirty martinis, but these styles make me want to get pregnant for the clothes!” Now that’s quite a compliment.
